Sports and Physical Education

Sports includes all forms of competitive physical activity among the students and develops their team spirit improving both physical and mental strength.

Our college Physical Education Department is facilitated with:

  • Badminton court
  • Volley Ball court
  • Kabbadi court
  • Table Tennis
  • Chess
  • Carroms


The permanent office bearers of the Physical Education Association are the:

  • President
  • Principal, Dr.S.Ramuthai and the Vice-President
  • Physical Education Directress, Dr.S.Padmadevi


The annually elected office bearers of Physical Education Regulatory Board are:

  • one III year student is elected as Secretary
  • one II year student as Joint-Secretary
  • two I year students are elected as Committee members


The students are each grouped into one of four houses, viz., Blue, Green, Red and Yellow to compete in different forms of exercise, sports and games.

Tough competition amongst students of various houses exist. They compete in intramural tournaments such as:

  • Volley Ball
  • Ball Badminton
  • Throw Ball
  • Kabbadi
  • Kho-Kho
  • Chess
  • Carroms


They also compete in sports events such as:

  • 100mts dash
  • 200mts dash
  • 400mts dash
  • 4x100mts relay
  • Long Jump
  • High Jump
  • Short-put
  • Discus and Javelin throw


At the end of every academic year, the best performer or Athlete of that year is awarded a Championship Cup.

Prizes

  • Our student participants have won prizes in many Inter collegiate competitions conducted by various affiliated colleges of Alagappa University, Karaikudi.
  • On 26th and 27th September, 2011, our college players got the winner shield in the Alagappa University Inter collegiate Ball Badminton tournament at Sree Sevugan Annamalai College, Devakkottai.
  • Our Kabbadi team won the Runner shield in the ALU Inter collegiate Kabaddi Tournament at RDGA College, Sivagangai on 8th and 9th October, 2012.
  • On 4th January 2019, our college Ball Badminton players got the runner shield in Inter collegiate competition conducted by our college.
