1. ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR RED RIBBON CLUB MEMBERS

A one day Orientation Programme was organized by the RRC of Our College 10.07.2019. Our Principal Dr. S.Ramuthai gave the presidential address. The chief guest Mrs. B.Rebekka, ICTC Counsellor Karaikudi, Sivagangai District, addressed the students on the topic “Celebrating Life”. She explained about the roots of HIV and its impact on society. She educated the members to act as peer educators and to do service to our students and also motivated them to do selfless service to HIV affected persons and to the society. The students were very much impressed and enthusiastically interacted with the chief guest. Red Ribbon Club programme officer Dr. S.Padmadevi organized the programme.



2. INTERACTIVE TRAINING SESSION

Mrs. B.Rebekka, ICTC Counsellor, Karaikudi explained how to protect the child from HIV affected mother and what are the steps to be taken to prevent and conduct HIV Test. HIV infected mothers can get counselling and free medicines from ICTC. ICTC counsellor cleared all the doubts of the students about HIV and AIDS. Students interacted with the chief guest enthusiastically.

3. EXPOSURE VISIT

Peer Educator Activity

I accompanied RRC Volunteers of our college and went to Municipal Maternity and Child Hospital, Karaikudi 16.7.2019, Mrs. B.Rebekka, ICTC Counselor in this Hospital explain well about how to protect the child from HIV affected mother. Also she explained what are steps to the taken to prevent and importance of HIV. The treatment was given to the affected to the HIV persons separately. Then only they have that confidence to survive in this society. She also said that how to convey the matter with patience and kindness to the affected HIV persons in the society. They are rendering valuable social service by creating on awareness among the public on the harmful effects of AIDS and the preventive measures to be taken by those who have been affected by the disease. This service is great use to the society. We assure that the awareness created in as would certainly be passed on everyone in the society.

There is no fund received from Alagappa University for the year 2015-2016 & 2016-2017 so, I was not able to conduct the Red Ribbon club Activities for the above mentioned years.

Drawing Competition was conducted on 23.3.2018 the topic of the competition is “AIDS Awareness”.

It was conducted to create on awareness that persons affected with HIV are not outcasts but are to be treated with affection and concern.

Prizes were given to the prize winners by our madam Principal.

4. ESSAY COMPETITION

Essay Competition was conducted on 23.3.2018 the topic of the competition is “HIV எய்ட்ஸ் தடுப்பதில் மாணவர்களின் பங்கு”.

It was conducted to create on awareness that persons affected with HIV are not outcasts but are to be treated with affection and concern.

Prizes were given to the prize winners by our madam Principal.

5. BLOOD DONATION

Blood donation is a valuable service to humanity enabling the donor to save life of a person at a timely moment. At the same time donating blood also helps to donor to keep his body fit through new supply of blood.

A team of doctors from Rajaj Hospital, Madurai came to Seethalakshmi Achi College for Women, Pallathur on 25.1.12 to collect the blood from our students. 32 students of our college donated the blood.

He educated the members to act as peer educators and to do service to our students and also motivated them to do selfless service to HIV affected persons and to the society. 3. ORATORICAL COMPETITION

Oratorical competition was conducted on 24.1.2015 the topic of the competition is “HIV இல்லாத உலகம் உருவாக்குவோம்”

It was conducted to create on awareness that persons affected with HIV are not outcasts but are to be treated with affection and concern.

Prizes were given to the prize winners on the sports day.

She explained about the roots of HIV and its impact on society. She educated the members to act as peer educators and to do service to our students and also motivated them to do selfless service to HIV affected persons and to the society. The students were very much impressed and enthusiastically interacted with the chief guest.

Mrs. K.Muthu ICTC Counselor, Puduvayal, interacted with the RRC Members and also members interact with the chief guest. This programme was very much useful to the students. And I hope this message will pass on to the affected persons in the society and they will be more confident and mingle with the society easily.

3. PEER EDUCATION TRAINING

Under the auspicious of the RRC peer education training to the RRC members of our college was conducted on 27.01.2012.

Mr. S. Jeyakumar, Distrct Manager of RRC, Sivagangai district gave lot of information about HIV and AIDS to the members of RRC. Mr. B.Udhayakumar Young Professional, Social Protection, Madurai explained clearly about the objectives of RRC and the responsibilities of RRC members there was a live interaction between the speaker and the student members.

4. COLLEGE LEVEL COMPETITION

A) Debate

A debate was conducted between the two groups of students on “Awareness on AIDS in Society” on 27.01.2012. Mrs. S. Jeyakumar and Mr. B.Udhayakumar were the judges. The participants put forth their ideas and arguments effectively. The debate went on in an interesting manner. In the end, the judges summarised of all the views expressed by the two groups. Finally the judges made it clear that there is awareness on AIDS in the society. The role played by each participant was good. The debate was highly useful in the sense the audience were able to enhance their knowledge on AIDS. All the participants in this programme were given prizes as a mark of encouragement.

b) Rangoli Competition

Rangoli Competition was conducted on the following topics

  1. HIV இல்லா உலகை உருவாக்குவோம்
  2. HIV இருந்தாலும் நீ என் நண்பேண்டா
  3. HIV உள்ளோரும் நம்மில் உள்ளோரே அரவணைப்போம் , அன்பு காட்டுவோம்
