Career oriented Programme



UGC Sponsored “Career Oriented Programme” has been functioning in our esteemed institution. This programme has been supervised by the Co-ordinator Dr.R.C.SheilaRoyappa. The classes were handled by the faculty members of Department of English and Research Centre for the syllabus Communicative and Functional English. a special lecture was arranged for the COP students. Dr.S.Sargunam, Assistant Professor of English, Govt Arts College, Pallathur was invited to give a special lecture on “Communicative English and its Effectiveness”. COP students found the lecture very useful and informative.

As a preliminary activity to develop their writing skills a field trip was made to Athangudi village which was the symbol of tradition. Here the students were asked to write permission letters from both parents and the college. The students were given the work of writing hints and developing them and surveying health and sanitary conditions of the people belong to Athangudi village.

Our COP students were taken to the southernmost part of India – The Island town of Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi. There they had the chance to provoke their thought by learning a lot in Dr.Abdul Kalam Memorial at Pekarumbu. In order to create awareness about Banking activities and schemes like mobile banking, internet banking, educational loans etc., the Cop students were taken to Indian Overseas Bank Pallathur. There a special lecture was arranged by the Bank manager, Kanadukathan. This lecture was very informative to the students as it comprised almost all the functions related to Banks.



UGC sponsored “Career Oriented Programme” has been functioning in SA College for Women, Pallathur for the welfare and betterment of students. This programme has been rooted in 2007 to empower the soft skills of COP students. Meticulously framed syllabus can help the students to get a proficiency in Learning, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills and provide a better portal for their prosperous future.

The meticulous preparations of the syllabus as well as continuous and commendable support of the staff members draw the programme to gain success. From the day of its origin it has been guided and supervised by the Head and Co-ordinator Dr. Sheila Royappa. It gets it’s over all development by the support of its team faculties. Further the personnel of this programme, engage additional outsourcing faculties from outside in order to give the

comprehensive development to the students in all aspects.

A special training was given to the COP students in the COP library. Many Audio-Visual training CD cassettes were played to enhance the speaking and listening skills of the students. Students involved in various activities like group discussion, mock interview and so on.

A special lecture was organized by the COP coordinator to insist the importance of language proficiency which is the most needed quality this current scenario demands.



Career oriented programme is being conducted in our college sponsored by the UGC. Dr R. C. Sheila Royappa, Associate professor of English, the coordinator, is assisted by the staff of the department of English and with the faculties of other departments also.

Students were asked to take seminars under various topics and thus they improved their communicative skills. Students are motivated to prepare a ppt presentation. This method helps to improve their creativity and helps to enhance the stock of vocabulary in them.

As journalism is incorporated in the course syllabus, the cop students were taken to different places, wherein the students could get an opportunity to gain practical knowledge. An educational tour was arranged for the students of COP. This tour covers Theni and the important area around it. The students visited the next nearby village, Veerapandi. The COP students visited Chinnalampatti Arun textiles. There students practically saw the spinning machine which is used for manufacturing 100% cotton materials.

COP certificate distribution function was held on 24.01.2016 Mrs.Komalavalli, Lecturer in English, Annai Teresa College of Education has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes to the students.



Our COP Co-ordinator Dr.R.C.Sheila Royappa motivate the students every week through her innovative lectures. The faculty members involved in this programme support and Guide the Students for their future platform of their life. The Students are also inspired by this programme. Through this course UGC Sponsored “Career Oriented Programme” has been functioning in our esteemed institution Seethalakshmi Achi College for women, Pallathur since 2007 0nwards.

A Special Lecture on “Importance of Language Laboratory and Communication Skills” was delivered by Mrs.Y.Illavarasi, Assistant Professor, B.T.K College of Education, Viralimalai, Pudukkottai. An educational tour was arranged for the COP Students as Tourism Reporting is an integral part of the Syllabus. COP students were taken to Tanjore which is an important pilgrim centre and a major tourist destination of Tamilnadu.

Dr. Christopher Ramesh, Assistant Professor of English, Govt. Arts College, Mellur has kindly consented to be the chief guest. He delivered a lecture on “Socio-Economic Empowerment of English Language”.

Coordinator Dr.R.C.Sheila Royappa, planned to take the final year students to Chennai as their educational trip. They have visited many important places. Chennai is famous for its cultural heritage, monuments and architectural designs. Our students met with a group of foreign visitors. Our students guided those foreign visitors and took them to national monuments, historical sites, and historical districts, religious or archaeological sites.



UGC sponsored “Career Oriented Programme” has been functioning in SA College for Women, Pallathur for the welfare and betterment of students. This programme has been rooted in 2007 to empower the soft skills of COP students. From the day of its origin it has been guided and supervised by the Head and Co-ordinator Dr. R.C.Sheila Royappa. It gets it’s over all development by the support of its team faculties. The students were taken to Doordarsan and FM Radio station and other site seeing places. This trip helped them to learn more about Broadcasting and Telecommunication. Following this informative tour the students had an opportunity to hear the motivation lecture given by Dr. Aisha Millath, Department of Alagappa Institute of Management, Alagappa University, Karaikudi.

Following this lecture, the COP organizing committee arranged variety of competitions to the students. Larger amount of students were participated. In essay writing competition, the theme had been given on the spot. The students showed their talent and excelled in their performance. Thus the annual goal of 2013-14 COP programme achieved successfully.

Our college conducts a course on Communicative and Functional English under UGC sponsored Career oriented Programme for the under graduate students. The Coordinator of this course is Dr.R.C. Sheila Royappa, Assistant Prof. of English. She is helped by the two members of COP -Ms.B.Malleswari, Head and Associate Prof. of English and Dr. Mrs.M.Vennila, Assistant Prof. of English. The faculty members of the Department of English themselves regularly handle classes for COP students.

A special lecture was arranged for the COP students. Dr. A. Antonysamy, a visiting lecturer, Alagappa University, Karaikudi, has kindly consented to be the chief guest. He delivered a lecture on Communicative English and its Effectiveness to the COP students and distributed the prizes and the certificates to the students.

The teachings and instructions of COP do not confine itself to academic pursuits alone. Hence an educational tour was arranged for the students of COP. the COP students were taken to the most popular tourist centre Velankanni and the nearby beach. The students then made a visit to Tanjore to see the famous Brahadeeswarar Temple.

Our college conducts a course on Communicative and Functional English under UGC sponsored Career oriented Programme for the under graduate students. This course is spear-headed by the course Co- ordinator Dr.R.C Sheila Royappa, Assistant Prof. of English. She is assisted by the two members of COP – Ms.B.Malleswari, Head and Associate Prof. of English and Mrs.M.Vennila, Assistant Prof.of English.

A special feature of this programme is that, it has trained instructors from outside the campus. Mr.Simon, a well-trained instructor in soft-skills and Advanced Spoken English, who works at a Spoken English centre in Pudukkottai, regularly handled classes for COP students, both in the morning and in the evening.

This tour covers a wide range of subjects and concepts right from women entrepreneurship, for which the COP students were taken to a nearby village O’Siruvayal, where a small-scale industry was running for the production of palm plates. The COP students then toured on to the next nearby village Attangudi, which is very famous for country floor tiles. The students then moved on to a nearby BPO centre at O’Siruvayal –Global Innovative Solutions Pvt Ltd. When students scramble for jobs, BPO centres like these throw ample job opportunities.
